The value of a digit depends on its PLACE in the number, e.g. 372, the number value of the digit 3 in the number 372 is 300. The value of the digit 7 in the number 372 is 70 and the value of the digit 2 in 372 is 2.
Expanded notation is a helpful way to rewrite numbers in order to show the place value of each digit,
e.g. 300 + 70 + 2 = 372 Teaches your child the Place Value of numbers 1 – 599.
